The first thing to do is to start with small diaper purchases. Why? Most people are able to calculate the amount they save when they buy in bulk and they tend to magnify the figure to want to save more. So it's really tempting to buy several bags of diapers if you find them at a discount. But the problem is if you're buying for a newborn and stocking up for a baby yet to be born, it is really not too wise to stock up too many diapers in the same size. The answer is very simple. Most newborns grow at the faster rate within the first few moths and they will not be in the same diaper size for very long. And you may end up with a huge stockpile of new born diapers that you don’t need. So you may want to just buy one pack until you know how big your baby is after birth. Alternatively, you may just plan to use cloth diapers instead of cheap diapers. Cloth diapers are slightly more economical, the only problem is you have to wash it instead of throwing them away.
